Ogden Blog Den
is a platform where Ogden family descendants, genealogists, and historians can access my historical essays and commiserate with others who share an interest in the Ogden families of North America. Since the mid-1600's, perhaps as many as a hundred genetically distinct Ogden individuals have arrived, settled, and started families in North America. The vast majority of these individuals and their descendants have led mundane lives, while some have achieved fame, wealth, and status. Through these essays the author has endeavored to profile prominent individuals who have borne the Ogden surname and to link them to their ancestral immigrant. As a result of this research, I have discovered that almost all prominent bearers of the Ogden surname throughout the history of North America come from about only ten genetically distinct Ogden family groups. Of those ten family groups the overwhelming majority of prominent individuals came from the descendants of two brothers who immigrated to Stamford Connecticut in 1641. Thus, the majority of these essays are about the descendants of one of those two Ogden brothers, while I also discuss prominent individuals from the other Ogden families and their origin as well.
I encourage Ogden descendants, genealogists, and historians to ask questions and post comments and corrections on our message forum.
For What It's Worth
These essays were researched and written over a fifteen-year period prior to 2024 and edited between 2024 and 2026. All of the factual content cited in these essays was gleaned from original documents, authentic images, and historical accounts. The author is greatly concerned about the potential for mischief due to the rapid adoption of AI since 2024. I believe that it is almost inevitable that AI will be abused in ways that will be profoundly detrimental for the disciplines of history and genealogy. For what it's worth, the author has not used AI tech to create the content in these essays (and yes, I did use AI to create the central image on the home page).
